The 7 Days Machame route, also known as the “Whiskey” route (because compared to the other routes, Marangu, for example, nicknamed the ‘Coca-Cola’ route, it’s one of the tougher climbs), is one of the most popular routes on Kilimanjaro. Due to its high success rate (90% for a 7 Days Machame Route trek), it is one of the better routes to aid acclimatization. The views on this route are incredible and you also get the added challenge of the Great Barranco Wall. If reaching Kilimanjaro’s summit is your number one priority, then the Machame route will give you one of the best shots at this.

Before taking 7 Days Machame Route Trekking, we always recommend you have at least 1 day in town before starting your trek. This gives you time to rest, relax and prepare. On this day we make sure you meet your guide(s) so that they are able to check all your gear, we can rent anything else that you require and you have the opportunity to ask them any questions you may have on 7 Days Machame Route.

If you are not pushed for time, we highly recommend you to take this route. The Machame route itself is quite undulating giving you a good variety of altitudes each day. With 7 days Machame Route itinerary you can take things a notch slower, giving you more time to relax and enjoy the scenery and of course a better chance of reaching the summit. If you don’t have previous experience of trekking at altitude then this is the itinerary for you.

9 DAYS KILIMANJARO LEMOSHO ROUTE-CRATER OVERNIGHT

The 9-day Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route Climb is one of the longest and most picturesque routes on Kilimanjaro, and it is our secret favorite. You will traverse through tranquil trails that feature scenic grandeur. In the rainforest, the exquisiteness of dawn’s light pierces the lush, emerald sward. Mist embraces the lichen-coated bark, and the melodic piping of a songbird splits the silence while the distinctive blue monkeys swing above. ITINERARY FOR SHIRA ROUTE KILIMANJARO DAY HIKE

Starting from Moshi or Arusha

Leave early in the morning from Moshi or Arusha to make the most of the day.If you start from Arusha you will start at 6:00am if you will start from Moshi you will start at 7:30am It takes around 3 hours by car from Arusha and 2 hours from Moshi to get to Londorossi Gate, the entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park.

Londorossi Gate to Murrum Barrier

Once you arrive at Londorossi Gate, you'll need to do some paperwork before starting your hike. From Londorossi Gate, it's about a 30-45min drive by car to reach Murrum Barrier, where your hike will begin.

Murrum Barrier to Shira Plateau

The hike from Murrum Barrier to Shira Plateau takes approximately 2-3 hours. During this time, you'll cover a distance of around 4 kilometers. You'll be ascending in elevation from about 3,400 meters at Murrum Barrier to 3,700 meters at Shira Plateau.

Optional Extension to Cathedral Point

For those who want an extra challenge and more beautiful views, there's an option to hike to Cathedral Point. The hike from Shira Plateau to Cathedral Point is about 4 kilometers each way, taking an additional 2-3 hours.
At Cathedral Point, you'll reach an elevation of around 3,800 meters. Returning After enjoying the stunning scenery, it's time to head back.

The hike back from Shira Plateau to Murrum Barrier takes roughly the same amount of time, around 1-2 hours.

Then, it's another 30min by car from Murrum Barrier back to Londorossi Gate. Once you're back at Londorossi Gate, your day hike comes to an end. You can then head back to Moshi or Arusha, reflecting on the amazing adventure you've had on Kilimanjaro Day hike.

7 Days Rongai Route – Kilimanjaro Hiking
