Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut

Your Kilimanjaro adventure begins with a morning transfer from your hotel to Marangu Gate. After completing registration and park formalities, you meet your mountain crew and begin the hike.
The trail winds through the beautiful montane rainforest, where lush vegetation, towering trees, and birdlife create a refreshing environment. The gradual ascent allows you to settle into a comfortable trekking rhythm.
After approximately four to five hours of hiking, you arrive at Mandara Hut, where you will enjoy dinner and spend your first night on the mountain.

Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut
Elevation: 2,720 m to 3,720 m Distance: Approximately 12 km Hiking time: 6–8 hours Habitat: Moorland and heather
After breakfast, you continue ascending toward Horombo Hut. The trail gradually leaves the rainforest behind and enters the moorland zone, characterized by open landscapes and distinctive high-altitude vegetation.
As you gain elevation, the scenery becomes increasingly impressive. On clear days, you may enjoy views toward Kibo and Mawenzi, two of Kilimanjaro's prominent volcanic peaks.
You arrive at Horombo Hut in the afternoon, allowing time to rest and prepare mentally and physically for the summit attempt.

Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut

Day three is the most challenging and rewarding day of the tour.
You will begin the summit attempt during the night or very early in the morning. The trail crosses the high-altitude Saddle toward Kibo Hut, situated at approximately 4,703 metres.
From Kibo, the ascent becomes steeper and more demanding. You continue toward the crater rim, passing Gilman's Point and then progressing toward Stella Point before making the final approach to Uhuru Peak.
At 5,895 metres, Uhuru Peak represents the highest point in Africa. Reaching the summit is a significant achievement, and you will have an opportunity to celebrate, take photographs, and appreciate the spectacular surroundings.
After spending time at the summit, you begin the descent toward Horombo Hut, where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate
Elevation: 3,720 m to 1,860 m Distance: Approximately 20 km Hiking time: 5–7 hours Habitat: Moorland and rainforest
After breakfast, you begin the final descent toward Marangu Gate.
The trail passes through the moorland and gradually returns to the lush rainforest. The decreasing altitude brings warmer temperatures and a noticeable change in vegetation.
After reaching Marangu Gate, you complete the park exit procedures. Trekkers who successfully reach the summit can receive their Kilimanjaro certificates before being transferred back to their hotel in Moshi.
