Expedition Duration: 10–12 Days
Day-by-Day Mount Meru Marangu Route Expedition
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. Meet your expedition team for briefing and equipment check.
Mount Meru Trekking Phase (4 Days)
Day 2: Arusha – Momella Gate – Miriakamba Hut
Drive to Momella Gate and begin trekking through open grasslands and montane forest. Spot wildlife such as giraffes, buffalo, and antelope. Overnight at Miriakamba Hut.
Day 3: Miriakamba Hut – Saddle Hut
Ascend through forest and moorland to Saddle Hut (3,570m). Afternoon acclimatization hike to Little Meru offers excellent views.
Day 4: Summit Socialist Peak – Miriakamba Hut
Start before dawn for the summit attempt to Socialist Peak (4,566m). Enjoy sunrise views over Kilimanjaro before descending back to Miriakamba Hut.
Day 5: Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha
Descend to Momella Gate and transfer to your hotel for rest and recovery.
Kilimanjaro Trekking Phase – Marangu Route (5–6 Days)
Day 6: Marangu Gate – Mandara Hut
Begin your Kilimanjaro climb at Marangu Gate. Trek through lush rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,720m).
Day 7: Mandara Hut – Horombo Hut
Hike through heath and moorland zones with stunning views of Mawenzi Peak. Overnight at Horombo Hut (3,720m).
Day 8: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
Rest and take a short hike to Zebra Rocks (4,000m) to enhance acclimatization.
Day 9: Horombo Hut – Kibo Hut
Trek across alpine desert terrain to Kibo Hut (4,700m), located beneath the summit cone.
Day 10: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak – Horombo Hut
Midnight ascent to Gilman’s Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Celebrate your success and descend to Horombo Hut.
Day 11: Horombo Hut – Marangu Gate
Final descent through rainforest to Marangu Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer to hotel.
Day 12: Departure or Extension
Transfer to the airport or extend your trip with a safari or beach holiday in Zanzibar.
