Heath and Moorland: As you gain elevation, the rainforest gives way to open heath and moorland landscapes.
Alpine Desert: Higher sections become drier and more rugged as you approach the upper mountain.
Summit Zone: The final ascent leads toward Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres, the highest point in Africa.
Best Time to Climb From Moshi
The Marangu Route can be climbed throughout much of the year, but many trekkers prefer the relatively drier periods.
January–March: Generally favorable trekking conditions.
June–October: A popular period with generally drier weather.
November–December: Possible rainfall and changing weather conditions.
April–May: Long-rain season, with wetter conditions on the mountain.
Weather conditions can change quickly at high altitude regardless of the season.
