Momella Gate → Miriakamba Hut
Start your adventure with a morning drive from Moshi or Arusha to Momella Gate. After registration and a briefing, begin your trek through the beautiful forest of Mount Meru.
The trail passes through lush vegetation, with chances to see wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, and various bird species. The walk gradually becomes steeper as you gain altitude.
Continue toward Miriakamba Hut, where you will spend the night. Enjoy the peaceful mountain environment, rest, and prepare for the next day's trek.
Miriakamba Hut → Saddle Hut → Momella Gate
After breakfast, leave Miriakamba Hut and continue climbing toward Saddle Hut. The trail becomes steeper and offers beautiful views of Mount Meru's volcanic landscape.
At Saddle Hut, take a short rest and enjoy views of the surrounding area. Depending on the trekking plan, you may have an opportunity to walk toward Little Meru before beginning the descent.
Descend through the forest toward Momella Gate. After completing the necessary procedures, meet your vehicle and transfer back to Moshi or Arusha for rest before starting the Kilimanjaro section.
Machame Gate → Machame Camp
Drive from Moshi or Arusha to Machame Gate, where you will complete registration and meet your trekking team. The climb then begins through the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.
The trail takes you through the beautiful rainforest, where you can enjoy tall trees, green vegetation, and different bird species. The path gradually becomes steeper as you continue toward Machame Camp.
Arrive at Machame Camp in the afternoon or evening. Have dinner, relax in your tent, and prepare for the next day's trek.
Machame Camp → Shira Camp
After breakfast, leave Machame Camp and continue climbing through the upper rainforest toward the moorland zone. The vegetation becomes shorter and the landscape more open as you gain altitude.
The trail includes several uphill sections and provides impressive views of Mount Kilimanjaro. As you approach the Shira Plateau, you will begin to see the mountain's higher slopes more clearly.
Continue to Shira Camp, where you will spend the night. Enjoy the surrounding scenery, have dinner, and rest while your body continues adapting to the altitude.
Shira Camp → Lava Tower → Barranco Camp
Leave Shira Camp and trek across the high-altitude landscape toward Lava Tower. This section gradually takes you to a higher elevation and is an important part of the acclimatization process.
After reaching the Lava Tower area, take time to rest and have lunch before continuing. The trail then descends toward the Barranco Valley, giving you beautiful views of the mountain terrain.
Arrive at Barranco Camp surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. Rest for the evening and prepare for the famous Barranco Wall climb the following morning.
Barranco Camp → Karanga Camp
Begin the day by climbing the Barranco Wall. Although it looks challenging, the route is manageable with careful steps and guidance from your trekking team.
After reaching the top of the wall, continue across a series of ridges and valleys. You will experience the alpine desert environment and enjoy views of Kilimanjaro's surrounding peaks.
Continue toward Karanga Camp, where you will spend the night. After dinner, rest well because the next stage takes you closer to the summit.
Karanga Camp → Barafu Camp
After breakfast, leave Karanga Camp and continue through the alpine desert toward Barafu Camp. The landscape becomes more rocky and barren as you approach the high-altitude zone.
The trail involves a steady climb, so maintaining a slow and comfortable pace is important. Along the way, you can enjoy views of Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding Kilimanjaro landscape.
Arrive at Barafu Camp and settle into your tent. Have an early dinner, rest, and prepare your clothing and equipment for the summit attempt, which begins during the night or early morning.
Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp
Begin the summit climb in the early hours of the morning. Trek slowly toward Stella Point while passing through the cold, rocky high-altitude terrain and gradually climbing toward the crater rim.
From Stella Point, continue along the crater rim toward Uhuru Peak, the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro. After reaching the summit, take time to enjoy the achievement and the spectacular views before beginning the descent.
Descend through the alpine zone toward Mweka Camp. The descent is long, but reaching the camp provides an opportunity to rest, eat, and recover after the summit experience.
Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate → Moshi/Arusha
After breakfast, begin your final descent from Mweka Camp through the rainforest. The trail becomes greener and easier as you lose altitude.
Continue hiking toward Mweka Gate, enjoying the forest scenery along the way. At the gate, complete the necessary exit procedures and receive your summit certificates if applicable.
Meet your vehicle at Mweka Gate and transfer to Moshi or Arusha. Check into your accommodation, take a well-earned rest, and enjoy the evening after completing the Kilimanjaro climb.
