Best Time for a 3 Days Eco-Friendly Safari

Tanzania’s Northern Circuit can be visited throughout the year, but the dry season from June to October is generally a popular period for wildlife viewing. During these months, vegetation is often thinner and animals tend to gather around available water sources, making wildlife easier to observe.

The January to March green season offers a different experience, with greener landscapes, pleasant scenery, and excellent birdwatching opportunities. This period can appeal to travelers who enjoy photography, nature, and quieter safari experiences.

April and May are part of the long-rain season. Rain can make some roads more challenging, but the landscape becomes lush and green, and travelers may encounter fewer visitors.

November to December brings shorter rains in many areas and can offer green scenery and good wildlife and birdwatching opportunities.

For the best experience, we recommend choosing your travel dates according to what matters most to you—wildlife viewing, green landscapes, photography, birdwatching, or fewer visitors.

Our Eco-Friendly Safari Practices

We encourage responsible travel throughout your safari by focusing on practical actions such as:

  • Following national park wildlife-viewing regulations.
  • Maintaining respectful distances from animals.
  • Avoiding unnecessary disturbance of wildlife.
  • Reducing single-use plastic and unnecessary waste.
  • Using reusable water bottles where practical.
  • Keeping campsites and natural areas clean.
  • Supporting local guides and tourism service providers.
  • Respecting local communities and cultural traditions.
  • Choosing environmentally conscious accommodation where available.

Why Choose an Eco-Friendly Tanzania Safari?

An eco-friendly safari gives you the opportunity to experience Tanzania’s wildlife while being mindful of the places and communities you visit. Instead of simply passing through the wilderness, you travel with greater awareness of wildlife protection, environmental responsibility, and local participation.

From the elephants of Tarangire to the remarkable ecosystem of Ngorongoro and the diverse habitats of Lake Manyara, every day brings a new opportunity to connect with Tanzania’s natural heritage.

Travel responsibly. Discover deeply. Leave Tanzania’s wilderness with memories—not a footprint of waste.

Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Elephants, Baobabs & Responsible Exploration

Your eco-friendly safari begins in Arusha with a morning departure toward Tarangire National Park. As you leave the city behind, enjoy the changing landscapes of northern Tanzania before entering one of the region's most beautiful wildlife areas.

Tarangire is renowned for its impressive elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, seasonal wetlands, and diverse wildlife. During your game drive, explore the park at a responsible pace while observing animals from a respectful distance and avoiding unnecessary disturbance to their natural behavior.

Keep your camera ready for elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, antelopes, and an impressive variety of birdlife. Your local safari guide will help you understand the ecosystem and the importance of protecting the wildlife and habitats around you.

Enjoy a picnic lunch while keeping the natural surroundings clean and free from waste. Continue your afternoon game drive before leaving the park and heading to your accommodation.

Spend the evening relaxing after your first day in the wilderness and enjoy a locally inspired dinner while preparing for the next adventure.

Day 2

Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater – Wildlife Conservation & Natural Beauty

After breakfast, depart from Arusha toward the magnificent Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The journey takes you through scenic highland landscapes before reaching the spectacular crater.

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for an unforgettable wildlife experience. This extraordinary natural environment supports a remarkable concentration of wildlife, offering opportunities to see lions, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos, hyenas, and, with some luck, the endangered black rhinoceros.

Throughout your game drive, practice responsible wildlife tourism by maintaining appropriate distances from animals, following park regulations, and respecting the natural environment. Your guide will help you understand how conservation and responsible tourism contribute to protecting Tanzania's wildlife heritage.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in a designated area before continuing your exploration of the crater floor. Take time to appreciate not only the wildlife but also the spectacular landscapes that make Ngorongoro so unique.

Later in the afternoon, ascend the crater and continue to your accommodation for dinner and overnight relaxation.

Day 3

Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park – Forests, Wildlife & Return to Arusha

After breakfast, depart from Arusha for your final destination, Lake Manyara National Park. Located beneath the dramatic Great Rift Valley Escarpment, the park offers a beautiful combination of forests, grasslands, wetlands, and lakeshore habitats.

Begin your game drive through the park while searching for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, hippos, baboons, and the famous tree-climbing lions. The lake and surrounding wetlands also attract numerous bird species, making this an excellent destination for nature lovers and photographers.

As you explore, your guide will encourage responsible interaction with the environment by following park regulations, avoiding littering, and minimizing unnecessary disturbance to wildlife.

Enjoy your final picnic lunch before continuing with a last game drive through the park. In the afternoon, begin your journey back to Arusha, carrying unforgettable memories of Tanzania's wildlife and landscapes.
