Day 1

Moshi/Arusha → Lake Manyara National Park

Your 2-day bird watching safari starts with a morning pickup from Moshi or Arusha and a drive toward Lake Manyara National Park. After entering the park, you begin bird watching around the lake, forests, wetlands, and open areas. These different habitats attract many bird species throughout the year.

During the birding drive, you may spot flamingos, African fish eagles, grey crowned cranes, yellow-billed storks, hornbills, rollers, kingfishers, and many smaller woodland and water birds. Your guide will help identify the species and explain their behavior and habitats.

In the afternoon, continue exploring the park before heading to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay. The day combines bird watching with beautiful scenery and opportunities to see other wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, zebras, and buffaloes.

Day 2

Lake Manyara → Arusha/Moshi

After breakfast, start another bird watching session around Lake Manyara. The morning is a good time to search for active birds around woodland, grassland, and wetland habitats. You can also take photographs while your guide helps you identify birds by their colors, calls, and movements.

Continue with a game drive through the park before beginning your return journey. Depending on the season and conditions, you may encounter additional bird species that were not seen on the first day, making the second birding session a different experience.

After lunch, leave Lake Manyara and drive back to Arusha or Moshi, where your 2-day bird watching safari ends. This route provides a short but rewarding introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife and is suitable for travelers who want a focused birding experience within limited time.
