KILIMANJARO CLIMB - LEMOSHO ROUTE

The 8-day Lemosho route is considered the most scenic trail on Kilimanjaro, granting panoramic vistas on various sides of the mountain. As one of the newer routes, Lemosho is a superb choice for your climb. It is our preferred route due to its ideal balance of low crowds, beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate. Kilinge Adventures specializes in guiding on the Lemosho route. Most of our clients climb Kilimanjaro using this route and they consistently report that they loved it. Thus, Lemosho is highly recommended.

The 8 days lemosho route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower. Then the route traverses underneath Kilimanjaro's Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu.

Descent is made via the Mweka route. Kilinge Adventures offers Lemosho as an eight day group climb or as a seven to eight day private climb. The seven day variation combines days five and six, going from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp without staying at Karanga. A nine day variation that includes an overnight at Crater Camp is available as a private climb by special request.

BEST KILIMANJARO 5 DAYS UMBWE ROUTE CLIMB

The 5 Days Umbwe Route takes a direct path to the southern glaciers. The Umbwe Option is without question the most difficult and steepest way to the summit of Kilimanjaro. Due to the demanding stages, we recommend this route only for experienced alpinists. The direct route also unfortunately means that there is very little time for acclimatization.

The special feature of this ascent option is mainly in the first stage. On the very first day you will reach the Umbwe Cave Camp at an altitude of almost 3000 meters between high trees. From there it is only a short detour to visit the caves that give the camp its name. On the second hiking day the Umbwe Route merges with the Machame Route at Barranco Camp.

KILIMANJARO 6 DAYS RONGAI ROUTE CLIMBING TOUR -

6 Days Rongai Route Climb is suitable Kilimanjaro Solo Hike or Kilimanjaro Private Group Climbs. The 6 Days Rongai route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border. Though gaining popularity amongst climbers, this route still experiences low crowds. Rongai has a more gradual slope than the mountain’s other routes. It is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the popular Marangu route, for those who would like a more remote hike, and for those who are climbing during the rainy season (the north side receives less precipitation).

Rongai is a moderately difficult route, and is highly recommended, especially for those with less backpacking experience. Although the scenery is not as varied as the western routes, Rongai makes up for this by passing through true wilderness areas for nearly the entire way. Descent is made via the Marangu route. Kilinge Adventures offers Rongai as a seven day group climb or a 6 or 7 Days Kilimanjaro Private Climb. The 6 day variation does not have an acclimatization day on day four at Mawenzi Turn Hut

KILIMANJARO CLIMB - 6 DAYS UMBWE ROUTE

The Kilimanjaro Umbwe Route

is a challenging climb that requires climbers to be well-prepared and acclimatized to the altitude. It is recommended to go on this tour with a certified guide and a reputable tour company to ensure your safety and success in reaching the summit.

This umbwe route climb usually takes around six days, with daily hikes ranging from six to eight hours. The Umbwe Route is a less travelled route, which means climbers can enjoy a more secluded and intimate experience with the mountain.

The Umbwe Route is like no other; a test of endurance amongst the majesty and grace of Kilimanjaro. As you stand proudly on Uhuru Peak at sunrise, you can say that you have conquered Umbwe. Although not technical, this route is arduous and the steep but short physical climb early on in the tour means there’s no time for altitude acclimatization. If you’re undecided or less experienced, try our Machame Route; more gentle but just as amazing.

KILIMANJARO CLIMB - 6 DAYS SHIRA ROUTE

6 Days Shira Route Climb is one of the less popular route on Mount Kilimanjaro and preferred more for Kilimanjaro Classic Climbs and solo hikers. The Shira route starts at the Londorossi entry point, the same gate is used by the Lemosho route. Again, your hike does not start at the national park border. You drive in your Toyota Landcruiser or Landrover Defender on a bumpy track with a great view of the neighbouring volcano Mount Meru and Arusha Nationl Park. The hike begins at an altitude of 3600 meters in the heath and moorland zone.

The next two days you hike over the Shira Plateau, one of the most beautiful hikes in all of Africa. Here you will see wildebeest, buffalo and sometimes even leopard. The Shira cone, an old crater, rises about 200 meters above the plateau. Along the southern ridge of the Shira Plain there are two dramatic peaks, the Cathedral and the Needle. All this creates a fantastic backdrop that you can enjoy on this route. The Shira Route joins the Machame Route on the third day of the trek. From this point both trails lead to the Lava Tower and the Barranco Valley.
