The second most popular and indeed one of the most beautiful routes up the mountain is the Machame Route. Also known as the Whisky Route, this trail is both longer and slightly more challenging than the Marangu Route. This is the most recommended route for Kilimanjaro Private hike with Kilinge Adventures. Where accommodation on the Marangu route is in huts, the Machame route offers strictly tents only. The route is better suited to the slightly more adventurous hiker, however rewarding him with a scenic splendor such as not seen on the Marangu route. 9 Days Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit Route
KILIMANJARO NORTHERN CIRCUIT ROUTE - KILIMANJARO HIKE
The Kilimanjaro Northern Circuit route is one of the best routes on Kilimanjaro, offering nearly 360 degrees of beautiful scenery including the quiet, rarely visited northern slopes. As the longest route on Kilimanjaro, the Northern Circuit also has the most acclimatization time and the highest summit success rate. Thus, the Northern Circuit route is highly recommended. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rainforest to Shira Ridge, before crossing the Shira Plateau. The route then heads north and circles clockwise from Moir Hut to Buffalo Camp to School Hut, before summiting from the east. Descend is made via the Mweka route.
Kilinge Adventures we offers the Northern Circuit as a nine-day group climb or private climb. A 10-day variation that includes an overnight at Crater Camp is available as a private climb by special request. Crater Camp is a unique place. At 18,865 feet above sea level, it is the highest campsite on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is located just 475 feet below the summit. We offer the opportunity to stay at Crater Camp on the Lemosho and Northern Circuit routes. This option will add one day to the standard itineraries making them the 9 Lemosho Crater Route and 10 days Northern Crater Route.
We leave for the summit during daylight hours and stay at Crater Camp after the summit for better acclimatization. On all other Kilimanjaro routes, only the guides and clients summit while the rest of the mountain crew remains at high camp (i.e. Barafu). Using Crater Camp requires significantly more effort on our part as the entire mountain crew, along with all of the expedition equipment, has to ascend 4,000 feet higher than they normally would. Therefore, there is considerable added cost to do a Crater Camp route. From Crater Camp, one can take an optional one-hour hike to Reusch Crater, or simply explore the areas around Furtwangler Glacier. Reusch Crater is a magnificent sight. It is almost perfectly circular and the ash pit measures 400 feet (120 m) deep and 1,300 feet (400 m) wide. This is rarely seen by tourists. 6 Days Shira Route Climb in 2023
KILIMANJARO CLIMB - 6 DAYS SHIRA ROUTE
6 Days Shira Route Climb is one of the less popular route on Mount Kilimanjaro and preferred more for Kilimanjaro Classic Climbs and solo hikers. The Shira route starts at the Londorossi entry point, the same gate is used by the Lemosho route. Again, your hike does not start at the national park border. You drive in your Toyota Landcruiser or Landrover Defender on a bumpy track with a great view of the neighbouring volcano Mount Meru and Arusha Nationl Park. The hike begins at an altitude of 3600 meters in the heath and moorland zone.
The next two days you hike over the Shira Plateau, one of the most beautiful hikes in all of Africa. Here you will see wildebeest, buffalo and sometimes even leopard. The Shira cone, an old crater, rises about 200 meters above the plateau. Along the southern ridge of the Shira Plain there are two dramatic peaks, the Cathedral and the Needle. All this creates a fantastic backdrop that you can enjoy on this route. The Shira Route joins the Machame Route on the third day of the trek. From this point both trails lead to the Lava Tower and the Barranco Valley.

Kilinge Adventures leads treks up the unique Rongai Route as a Kilimanjaro Multi-day hike; 7 Days Rongai Route Climb is known to be more scenic than the Marangu Route, easier than the Machame Route, and the success rate on the Rongai is very high. Unlike the Marangu Route where you sleep in huts, on the Rongai you sleep in tents (tents are included), and the porters will pitch your tent for you. Meals are served in a dinner tent or on a blanket outside.
The 7-Day Rongai Route starts on the north side of the mountain just south of the Kenyan border, and is one of the least traveled routes. The Kilimanjaro Marangu route is often called the tourist route or Coca-Cola route and is both the easiest and the shortest way to the Uhuru summit. Even for tourist who are not fit enough in 5 days Marangu route climb can summit Kilimanjaro easily. It is also the oldest of the routes. The majority of all climbers choose this route because it is mostly easy walking on a well maintained path.
Unfortunately, this route also holds the sad record of the most aborted Kilimanjaro summit attempts. Mostly this is due to bad preparation and overestimation of one’s own abilities. If you show the necessary respect for the route, you will be rewarded with a varied ascent. The Marangu Option has fewer vantage points, as you walk for a long time through high vegetation.

The 7-day lemosho route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike.
Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower. Then the route traverses underneath Kilimanjaro's Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. Descent is made via the Mweka route.
Kilinge Adventures offers Lemosho as an eight day group climb or as a seven to eight day private climb. The 7 day variation combines days five and six, going from Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp without staying at Karanga. A nine day variation that includes an overnight at Crater Camp is available as a private climb by special request.
